Monica’s love for outdoor exploration began in childhood, growing up with free rein of hundreds of acres of camp land. Her parents—who met as summer camp counselors—instilled in her a deep appreciation for play, nature, and adventure. With over 15 years of nonprofit leadership experience and a background as an afterschool bilingual educator and camp counselor and director, she has dedicated her life to creating meaningful, hands-on learning experiences for children and families.

A year ago, Monica and her six-year old son, Jones, relocated to Black Earth, where they're putting down roots — both literally and figuratively — on 20 acres of historic, driftless farmland. Driftless Discovery is the culmination of her passions: a space where children, and children-at-heart, can continue to discover the power of play in nature.
